The first portion of the new roadway on the Bayonne Bridge reopened to the public on Monday, February 20, 2017. The bridge, which connects Staten Island to New Jersey, underwent a major renovation to raise the roadway approximately 64 feet to allow larger ships that use the Panama and Suez canals to pass under to reach local ports.

Part of the renovation included a new cashless tolling facility, which will utilize both mailed tolls and EZPass. The renovation also provides wider lanes and a median.

As part of the HDR / PB Joint Venture team, Arora provided electrical and fire protection engineering design for power, conduit routing and design of the fire alarm system; bridge, roadway, security, navigation, and aviation lighting layout; power and lighting for the new toll system; grounding plans; coordinated power supply and conduit routing for SCADA equipment layout; and lightning protection system design.
