Manohar (Mike) L. Arora, MS, PE
For Mike Arora, the decision to start his own company was an obvious one. The urge was always with him. He had big dreams, and he knew he would make it in America. When he arrived in the United States, Mike had $8 in his pocket. He soon found work with DuPont’s Engineering & Maintenance Department and later for the Army Corps of Engineers until the desire to start his own business became overwhelming.
Arora Engineers was founded in the basement of Mike’s Media, PA home in 1986. Arora’s first specialties were mechanical and electrical engineering. “Starting your own business is not all Easy Street,” warned Mike. “Initially, I spent money out of my own pocket to keep things going. Having been through hard times before though, I knew I could survive.” As the firm grew, it moved to larger office spaces, eventually moving to Arora’s present Chadds Ford, PA headquarters. Branch offices were opened, and additional services were offered to better serve Arora’s clients.
Mike possesses 54 years of comprehensive engineering expertise that includes planning, design, and construction. He has been instrumental in defining Arora’s mission and vision – past and future. He was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE) Delaware County chapter in May of 2006. He is also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
Mike and his wife Adarsh are world travelers having visited nearly 55 countries. Mike believes travel is, “Something that has to be experienced. It’s like building an asset.” He adds, “With travel experiences you are more grateful, gain more happiness, widen your world, and become wiser.”
