10/9/2008 |  Arora headed to Maine for new project at Portland International Jetport

Arora has begun work on a terminal expansion project at Portland International Jetport (PWM). Scope of work includes design and construction phase administration. Specific services include access control, CCTV, voice/data, FIDS, structured cabling, communication room layouts, and fire alarm and detection.

Located on 700 acres of land southwest of Portland, PWM is owned and operated by the city as a division of its transportation department. Projects at PWM are funded solely by revenue generated from the use of the facility; no taxpayer dollars are spent. Once a private flying field, PWM serves more than 1.6 million passengers annually, and caters to major airlines. Jet Blue, Delta, Northwest, Airtran, Continental, US Airways, and United Express all have regular flights arriving and departing from the jetport. A 10-year capital improvement plan is underway to improve and modernize PWM. New safety regulations, increased traffic, and economic development, prompted the overhaul.
