Employee Spotlight: Christine Furey, Multimedia Communications Specialist

  • Employee Spotlight Christine Furey

1. How did you come to do what you do?
I attended Millersville University majoring in Speech Communication with a concentration in Broadcast. During my junior year of college, I was offered an internship for a local homebuilding company called Keystone Custom Homes to work as their Social Media Content Marketing Intern. While working there, I fell in love with Marketing and all the different aspects it entails. I learned valuable skills such as website development, graphic design, video editing, social media marketing, event coordination, and content development. From there, I decided to pursue Marketing as a full-time career. Upon graduation, I worked for a variety of firms contributing to the development and implementation of their marketing strategies.

When I first joined Arora Engineers as the Marketing Coordinator in 2020, I was able to expand my duties within a few months of employment to include sole responsibility for all social media marketing. After a year and a half, I grew into my current role as the Multimedia Communications Specialist. I support all aspects of marketing services, with a focus on the development and execution of corporate communications strategies for Arora Engineers and EDI’s website and social media platforms.

2. What are your favorite types of projects to work on?
I love creating and publishing content featuring our incredible staff and the philanthropic work we do at Arora. I believe it is important to share our time and talent with the communities where we live and work. One of my favorite pieces we published on our platforms was a blog post about our 2022 Earth Day Event through One Tree Planted and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Arora volunteered and worked with the Friends of Wilmington Parks to plant trees at Brandywine Park to restore our environment and create a habitat for biodiversity. It was such a rewarding day planting 68 trees, and I felt such great joy contributing to preserving our environment. I love encouraging our audiences to continue to make positive social impacts for our communities as well as the world.

3. What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
The best career lesson I have learned is to remember that creativity is a fundamental element to success. Creativity is an inherent trait that is in all of us, giving us the opportunity each day to become an infinite source of fresh thinking. Creativity is not only vital in marketing, but across all industries. It helps us to foster ideas that are both unique and original, thereby allowing us to discover groundbreaking solutions to keep our businesses growing and thriving. I believe that creativity is truly the backbone of innovation and should not just be constrained to artistic expression.

4. What do you enjoy most about working at Arora?
I absolutely love my colleagues on the marketing team at Arora. Each member of our marketing department plays a key role to the success at Arora. We all work extremely well together, and it feels like we have become a well-oiled machine! The work we do feels effortless because each of us comes together to efficiently execute different tasks. I am so grateful to be part of this team because of the people I work with. We celebrate one another’s success, we support and encourage professional growth, and most of all, we love what we do. Amy Poehler said it best, “Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.”

5. Outside of work, what do you like to do for fun?
Outside of work, I am extremely passionate about theatre and the arts. I have grown up acting, singing, and dancing for as long as I can remember. I started performing on stage at the age of six and continue to perform in shows to this day. I volunteer my time at a variety of local community theatre organizations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. To me, theatre is one of the greatest art forms. Each story you tell in a theatrical production allows you to connect to audiences in substantial, profound ways, all while building empathy and cultivating compassion. I love that for a brief time, I can be on stage connecting with my fellow performers and play an important role in entertaining audiences while allowing myself to explore vulnerable emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
