Employee Spotlight: Hiep Le, PE

  • Employee Spotlight - Hiep Le

Hiep Le, PE is an Electrical Engineer in our Chadds Ford office. Hiep received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. He joined Arora as an Electrical Designer in 2017 and earned his PE in 2018. Hiep was also recently recognized by Arora’s Value Recognition Program for “Excellence.”

How did you get into the field of engineering?

I didn’t know much about engineering until my freshman year at Penn State. Two friends that I met early on, who I am still friends with to this day, knew that they wanted to go into the engineering field because their dads were engineers. They explained to me what it entailed and to me it sounded interesting. I did some more research, spoke to the engineering counselor, and thought I would give it a shot. My friends are now a mechanical engineer and a civil engineer, and when I started taking courses I was drawn to the electrical side. It’s funny, once I told my mom about it, she said she kind of figured I would enjoy electrical engineering. She said when I was younger, I liked to take my remote-control cars apart and try to put them back together again. So, it all made sense to her.

What motivates you in your job? What do you enjoy most?

Personally, I am motivated by my family. I am the oldest of 7 boys and I always want to work hard to be a good role model for them. I enjoy my job because I am able to work with colleagues who share the same vision and who are dedicated to our project’s main objective. Arora is also such a positive work environment. My colleagues are wonderful to work with and the mission for each of our projects is always unique and challenging, which keeps it very interesting.

What makes you unique and different?

I have always been able to empathize and relate to people. This has helped me build trusting relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients throughout my career. Also, I will do whatever it takes to get the job done correctly, including staying late to meet a project deliverable. I will always go the extra mile.

What are your favorite types of projects to work on?

My favorite types of projects to work on are those that are complex and challenging. I really enjoy working on and figuring out the technical aspects for a variety of different projects, both small and large, and learning from those experiences.

What are your career goals?

I recently earned my PE, but I would like to eventually start working on project management and become a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends the most. I also enjoy any type of outdoor activity, including basketball, fishing, hiking, and I have an annual camping trip with my friends from Penn State.
