Employee Spotlight: Lynda Baer, Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

  • Lynda Baer Employee Spotlight

1. How did you come to do what you do?
I always knew I wanted to be a secretary. I used to play on my mom’s typewriter. I received honors in high school in my business classes and enjoyed the challenge. Two weeks after graduation, I started my job for PECO as a secretary to the building manager in Philadelphia. After having kids, I took a few years off to raise them. When I wanted to go back, I started working for the school district, but I found my job here at Arora and have loved it ever since!

2. What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
With technology always changing, I’ve had to adapt. I started on a typewriter and then learned word processing. Computer technology has changed drastically, but I’ve learned that no matter how hard it seems, after working on new equipment, everything starts to feel second nature.

3. Tell us what your day-to-day looks like at Arora.
My day-to-day at Arora consists of frequent phone calls, incoming mail, and handling incoming and outgoing packages. I also take care of our kitchens and supply closets with the inventory, ordering, and restocking. I also coordinate with the hotels when our employee’s travel.

4. What has been your favorite memory while working at Arora?
My favorite memory is having our holiday party in the planetarium. We all had fun dancing and hanging out. I really enjoy the people I work with and getting to spend time with them!

5. Outside of work, what do you like to do for fun?
Outside of work, spending time with my family is what I love the best. I want to continue to do some traveling. I also love going to New York to shop, people-watch, and see Broadway shows. When at home, I love to read, do puzzles, and scrapbook.
