BWI Terminal D/E Checkpoint & Connector Renovation

Arora provided lighting and plumbing design for the approximately 100,000 SF expansion and enhancement to Terminals D and E at BWI.

The project adds a new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security and screening checkpoint to reduce passenger wait time. The project also connects the existing D and E concourses on the secured side, allowing improved accessibility for customers making transfers and connecting flights.

A key design element for this project is the open-air lighting concept that helps reduce passenger anxiety through the security screening process. Arora also incorporated energy efficient lighting fixtures and controls as well as unique roof drainage design and heat tracing of integral roof gutter.
