LGA Chase Sapphire Lounge
Arora Engineers (Arora), working as a subconsultant to Corgan, provided multidisciplinary engineering design and construction phase services for the Chase Sapphire Lounge at LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B. Commissioned by Airport Dimensions and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), the 19,100-square-foot, two-story lounge was designed to deliver a premium hospitality experience, featuring a full-service kitchen, grand staircase, elevator, and upscale traveler amenities.
The project also included a secure tarmac engagement area to support VIP vehicle transfers, complete with specialty lighting and EV charging infrastructure, as well as upgrades to an adjacent back-of-house storage area. The design supported the project’s LEED Gold target and PANYNJ sustainability requirements.
Recently named the World’s Best Independent Airport Lounge in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, the two-level lounge delivers a premium hospitality experience through elevated dining, wellness amenities, private suites, and exclusive passenger services.
Scope of Work Included:
Arora provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, and special systems engineering, along with LEED and commissioning support. Services included:
- Mechanical: HVAC design, heating and cooling load calculations, and kitchen exhaust and makeup air systems.
- Electrical: Normal and emergency power, lighting, lighting controls, and power for building systems and kitchen equipment.
- Plumbing: Domestic water, waste and vent, and gas systems for the lounge, restrooms, and kitchen.
- Fire Protection and Fire Alarm: Sprinkler and standpipe systems, kitchen fire suppression, and fire alarm upgrades coordinated with other life safety systems.
- Special Systems: CCTV, public address, music, and lighting control systems.
- Sustainability and Commissioning: LEED documentation and commissioning support aligned with project sustainability goals.
- Construction Phase Services: BIM/Revit design, submittal reviews, RFI responses, site inspections, and punch-list support.
