Strengthening Emergency Response at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

Each year, more than 86 million passengers travel through Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), making reliable emergency response infrastructure essential. The recent opening of DFW’s new East Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station marks a major milestone in the airport’s $130 million emergency response modernization program. The approximately 38,900-square-foot facility is the first of two new ARFF stations designed to strengthen airport safety, improve operational efficiency, and support future growth.

Delivered through a design-build partnership between JE Dunn Construction and PGAL, the project modernized critical emergency response infrastructure while improving operational efficiency across the airfield. Arora Engineers (Arora) provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire alarm, and fire protection engineering services, supporting the design and coordination of the building systems that help keep these facilities operating reliably.

In addition to core engineering services, Arora provided energy modeling to support LEED Silver certification goals, developed separate BIM models for the East and West stations, and integrated electric vehicle charging and photovoltaic infrastructure into the project. These features support both operational efficiency and the airport’s long-term sustainability goals.
